[53] King Darius says: These nine kings did I capture in these wars. [54] King Darius says: As to these provinces which revolted, Lies made them revolt, so that they deceived the people. Then Ahuramazda delivered them into my hand; and I did unto them according to my will. [55] King Darius says: You who shall be king hereafter, protect yourself vigorously from Lies; punish the liar well, if thus you shall think, 'May my country be secure!' |
53. (4.31-2.) Darius the King says: These nine kings I took prisoner within these battles. 54. (4.33-6.) Darius the King says: These [above] are the provinces which became rebellious. The Lie (draugâ *) made them rebellious, so that these (men) deceived the people. Afterwards Ahuramazda put them into my hand; as was my desire, so I did to them. 55. (4.36-40.) Darius the King says: You who shall be king hereafter, protect yourself vigorously from the Lie; the man who shall be a Lie-follower, him do you punish well, if thus you shall think, "May my country be secure!" * draujana - lying, deceiptful |
